Underwater archeology is a branch of archaeology. Due to its specificity, it requires particular investigation techniques, and depending on the field of interest (inland waters, wrecks, seabed...), it is divided into different disciplines.
In addition to the recovery of ancient submerged objects, it deals with reconstructing and historically contextualizing the findings, with the aim of protecting, conserving and enhancing the cultural heritage.
It certifies attendance at a course whose priority objective is the deepening of knowledge in the underwater archaeological field with the specific intention of developing the concepts of respect and protection of the submerged archaeological heritage. It certifies attendance at a course to carry out dives within the limits established by the basic license with purposes as per the specialization.
The courses are aimed at all divers in possession of a diving license issued by recognized educational agencies and a medical certificate of suitability for underwater activity
The course is divided into theoretical sessions aimed at providing the fundamental notions of archeology and underwater prospecting techniques, alternating with practical sessions teaching underwater survey and documentation techniques.
At the end of the course, the 1st Level International Underwater Archeology certification and a certificate of participation will be issued.
